Launchxl-F28027F

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LAUNCHXL-F28027F, BOOSTXL-3PHGANINV, BOOSTXL-DRV8301, BOOSTXL-DRV8305EVM, DRV8301

Hi everyone, I recently bought the launchxl-f28027f and before i get started with understanding all it has to offer,  but will it be possible to use the launch pad itself as a standalone brain for the speed controllers i want to build. Of course with all the safety features to protect the board. I want to buy my own fets,  drivers and buck converters for a higher power output than the booster pack. Please ask any questions iin reguards. Thanks

If for academic or hobby purposes, off course you can use the launchpad as the controlCard (or as you call it 'standalone brain') for the 'high-power' Power board you plan to build.

  • Yes, there are booster packs available from TI, typically low voltage inverters such BOOSTXL-DRV8301 or BOOSTXL-DRV8305EVM or BOOSTXL-3PHGANINV.

These can be good starting points atleast.

  • Thanks for the reply. My goal is to build a speed controller that will spin 4 brushless motor, from what i know it will require 4 mcu and all supporting components, 4- 3 phase h bridges and supporting components. There are speed controllers on the market that will serve my purpose but if i build it with the best components on the market i will achieve more power for less money. I also realize that the 4 mcus duty cycle input has to be timed to receive the same signal. Any more question you may have im ready to answer. This speed controller i want to build will go into a electric hot rod that im building. The motors are that which will be found in large scale brushless air planes, they have outrageous power and torque and i have seen the on personal mobility vehicles such as go karts, e scooters ans e bikes. Every invention starts somewhere and im just looking for people that understands what im trying to accomplish. Thanks again and please ask any questions you may have.
  • I did purchase the boostxl drv8301. Form what i read it will teach me the things i wish to learn such as programming which is very important sometimes asking a few questions out of curiosity provokes us all. Thanks for the reply and any questions are welcomed
  • You seem to have an interesting project on hand. The pointers we provided already should help you move forward. If it is proof of concept with a low voltage motor, our boosterpacks can help, otherwise, you have to build on your own. Hope it clarifies.
