Large External RAM with 28335

I have an application that is changing from a competitor's DSP to the TI 28335 DSP.  The problem I am having is that I need a minimum of 16 MB of RAM.  There are not enough address lines available to support this but I do have some free GPIO.  Has anyone had any experience utilizing GPIO as additional address lines?  I am somewhat new to this and appreciate any help offered.
