Flash access fails after reset during programming

Hi folks!

I am using Code Composer Studio V4.1.3.00038 with a XDS510LC USB emulator (Spectrum Digital) on a TMS320F2812 based board,
comparable to the eZdsp F2812 evaluation board.

Currently I have the problem that the flash memory of the TMS320F2812 is not accessible anymore (e.g. erasing, programming),
reading shows always 0x0000 on all flash memory locations. I get  error messages like:

C28xx: Flash Programmer: Error calculating checksum. Device is locked or not connected. Operation cancelled.
C28xx: Flash Programmer: Error erasing flash memory. Device is locked or not connected. Operation cancelled

Internal and external RAM and Registers are accessible.
Locking / Passwords etc. were not used.

My assumption is, that the device gets some spurious / unintentional resets (XRS/ pin) during an earlier flash programming process (uploading object file).

Is it imaginable, that these resets (at admittedly unpropitious time) during the flash programming enable the locking / passwords of the flash memory?
Is it possible to revert theses changes (standard passwords)?
Or is the flash memory completely destroyed/defective now?

Currently I have the problem at to different boards; they worked fine and after getting resets while programming
they come up with these problems.

Thanks & Regards.

  • Guido,

I am going to move the post into the C2000 forum as the group there is likely more familiar with what can cause this.

    Guido,

Yes, it is, unfortunately, possible.  If the interruption occurs at such a time to leave the password in some weird uknown state then the device will be locked.

This is a feature we have been looking at - but at this time it is not possible on the device you have.

If the password is unknown then it cannot be recovered unlocked.  Here are some trouble shooting tips to make sure it really is indeed locked:

  • Hi Lori!

Thanks for your quick reply, even if the news are not good.
