I have a project using 2-phase bipolar stepper motors and am interested in using field oriented control.  Does InstaSPIN-FOC support 2-phase bipolar stepper motors?

mentions that support for stepper motors is being considered for the future.  Since it is dated September 15, 2015, I was wondering what is the current state for stepper motor support by InstaSPIN-FOC?

    InstaSPIN-FOC didn't support 2-phase stepper motor directly till now. The 2-phase stepper must be configured and control ed as a 3-phase motor if you want to use instaSPIN-FOC for it.

    Maybe, you could refer to the 2-stepper example project in below folder if you installed C2000 controlSUITE, which can be downloaded from TI website as below.

    Yanming, thank you for the information. Allow me to rephrase your reply to make sure I understood it correctly.

    InstaSPIN-FOC does not directly support 2-phase stepper motors as of today (May 30, 2018).  There might be support for it in the future. Is that correct?

    You also mentioned being able to use a InstaSPIN-FOC with a 2-phase stepper motor by configuring and controlling it as a 3-phase motor. Nicholas Oborny said that TI might have investigated using InstaSPIN-FOC with bipolar stepper motors but ran into issues here: e2e.ti.com/.../1374357 Is that true and do you have any details about the issues that were run into? I am concerned I will run into the same issues and either may not be able to and/or have the bandwidth to resolve them.
