TMDSSOLARUINVKIT: Can I connect the evaluation board to an external controller?

Part Number: TMDSSOLARUINVKIT

Hello,

I am seriously considering ordering a TMDSSOLARUINVKIT evaluation board to experimentally validate an algorithm for the MPPT of the flyback converter as part of my research. I have developed my algorithm on another controller board (dSpace) and would like to develop it further to be programmed into the C2000 Piccolo microcontroller. I would like to compare the implementation of the dSpace and the TI boards on the same flyback converter hardware.

Would it be possible to generate my PWM signals from dSpace instead of the C2000 board? I noticed the pins J30 and J31 in the user's guide, are these connected directly to the flyback switch gate signal (i.e. PWM3A and PWM3B like in fig.4 of the user's guide), or are they just enable signals? Could I use J30 and J31 to connect different external controllers? Is there a document that has the signal mapping of this evaluation module?

My other question, is it possible to use a C6000 board with this evaluation module?

Thank you very much.

  • Morcos,

    1. The board was designed to work with C2000 control card, and keeping my TI hat this is what i will intend this board to be used as.

    2. That being said you can refer to the schematic and decide to bypass the control and feedback signals and route them to whatever you like, and that point this is your engineeering project :)

Also for your other questions refer to the schematic, you will be able to answer these questions after you spend some time with the schematic. That's the document we have asides from the UG.
