TMS320F280049: Can CLB support pulse train input from PLC

Hi Champs,

My customer is designing 2 axis servo using one F280049, no FPGA/CPLD. And servo motor's position sensor is optical encoder, which used QEP to get the position. F280049 has 2 QEPs, and who will be used to decode the position sensor.

The position input from PLC is pulse train input, which can be decoded by QEP. There are 6 types from their spec, and you can see the pulse type as follows.

And additional 2 QEP are needed. So is it possible to use CLB to decode the pulse train commend?

Hi Young,

Currently CLB is supported via libraries provided by TI only.
Regarding the PTO, below document has the options supported by the library.

Option with 6 outputs is not available.

Sorry for my unclear discription.

In customer's system, they use QEP to decode pulse train commend from PLC(6 types). So my question is can CLB support pulse train commend(6 types) decoding.

Hi Young,

Only options supported, using CLB, for Pulse train are the ones listed in the documented above.

Regarding CW/CCW - certain enhancements are done to eQEP module of F28004x to support CW/CCW type inputs.
please go through "22.9 QMA Module" in the device TRM.
