TMS320F28035: eQEP channel A and channel B failure detection

Part Number: TMS320F28035

Hello,

Is there any way to know if there are issues with channel A or channel B on the EQEP module. I am thinking of tying channel A with GPIOx, channel B with GPIOy and check the GPIOs while running the motor.

Is there any other way to verify if the channels are working other than this method?

Thnaks,

Nikit Shah

  • Nikit,

There is actually a dedicated feature for this. The QEPA and QEPB signals generate an internal QCLK that is used with the integrated eQEP watchdog module. This is a 16-bit timer that is reset with every edge of QEPA and QEPB. The eQEP watchdog has a programmable period which is clocked at SYSCLK/64. Please refer to the eQEP Watchdog section of the eQEP User Guide http://www.ti.com/lit/sprufk8 .
