TMS320F2802: operation temperatures

Part Number: TMS320F2802

TMS320F28027PTT

TMS320F28027PTS

TMS320F28027PTQ

Reference datasheet: TMS320F28020.pdf

In regards to the 3 parts above, what makes them different other than operating temperature differences?

Also a short term thermal solution for TMS320F28027PTT for an existing design, would there be any objection against using VGA RAM cooling heatsinks?

Also a preferred adhesive among the ones in the market now?

Thank you in advance for the replies.

  • They are identical except for thermal rating.
    T 105C
    S 125C
    Q 125C AEC Q100

    please review the datasheet.

I can't comment on use of heat sinks or adhesives, let me see if I can get someone else to comment.
  • Chris, thanks.
I did read the datasheet and was curious what made them different; possibly iteration of testing...
Another question: I am measuring the case temperature of the IC, is the 'case temp' = 'operational temperature'?
  • per the datasheet, the temperature rating is junction: Tj(3)
    3) TA (Ambient temperature) is product- and application-dependent and can go up to the specified TJ max of the device. See Section 5.8,
    Thermal Design Considerations.
