Hi all,

I've been using Arduino Uno and their motor shield, two 12 V DC motors from tetrix, and 180 deg Hitec servos along with various sensors for student robot building projects. I am interested in switching to TI launchpad for a more robust solution since we were having problems with overheating. I am wondering if making the switch is fairly easy, what launchpad mcu is recommended with plenty of room for sensors (using arduino uno students ran our of pins for all the sensors they wanted especially after losing so many for motor control). According to the lift-off with launchpad it looks I should use Energia for software development. Here's some mcus I am considering: F28069M, F280049C, EKTM4C1294XL, F28377S (not available for ordering), and a booster pack to drive two motors, DRV8848. Thanks for your help in advance.

You might use F28069M, both controllers can drive dual motor using sensorless instaSPIN-FOC or sensored FOC. You may download and install motorWare as the link below which has many example lab projects to support this kit, and follow the lab guide to understand these lab projects, there is a lab10d show how to drive dual motor using launchpadxl-F28069 with boostxl-drv8301 or boostxl-drv8305.

Thanks for the info. Is there a less expensive option? Buying two $79 booster packs would get me four Arduino motor shields so I cannot make a case for this particular option. Also, where are the labguides? The folder you suggest looks to be stored on your personal c drive. Thank you

Sorry, I assume you have downloaded and installed the motorware and controlSUITE by default. You might do this, and then you could find all the guides in the "docs" folder of motorWare. You may find many example projects also that could help you to spin your motor quickly.

Yes. You might F28069M to control the DRV8848 if you want, the F28069M is much powerful for this controlling.
