TMS320F28075: F28075 "failure" at end customer, function recovered after reading the chip using UNIFLASH

Hi Champion,

My customer get a "not working" product back from their end customer. This product is using F28075 and the SPI is not working after loading program through the boot loader. (This is the only who one has this problem)

They try to verify if the program is right or not so they read them out using "UNIFLASH" and find out the program is exact the one they want.

After reading the code using "UNIFLASH" the product works like normal and the SPI never fails again. (Even after POR)

So, my customer wants to know:

Will the UNIFLASH do anything to the MCU(change anything)? Something like before the reading operation, the MCU is "locked" and after reading the code the MCU is "unlocked"?

Sheldon,

This is very strange. Reading from UNIFLASH will not change anything in the code so should not matter. You mentioned that after reading, even after power on reset code works so even if read is changing any state (e.g. LOCK) then power on reset will reset that. Have they tried reading the code from CCS flash plug-in instead of UNIFLASH? Does that also make it work?

Do we know when it fails, what exactly the failing signature?

Hi Vivek,
Thanks for your reply. Even if I had a phone call with them it is still hard to get all the details. It seems that the SPI communication on F28075 is not successful so the product doesn't work at all.
For after they reading the code using UNIFLASH the problem disappeared, so we could not do further test on this. I will try to get more details tomorrow and add a post here.

Hi Vivek,
I suspect the power up sequence could not meet the requirement in that case for some reason.

Hi Vivek,
They just want to make sure it is nothing related to UNIFLASH or some "status" on the chip. I advise them to check power up sequence if this happens again. Thanks!

Thanks Sheldon. We are not aware of any such issues on UNIFLASH. Also power on reset should clear chip state.
