CCS/TMS320F28035: F28035 Sample code ADC Dummy Pin

Part Number: TMS320F28035

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Dear C2000 experts,

As title.

I'm learning how to use the ADC function of the F28035, but notice that there are some pins are defined as "Dummy". (From comment)

The question is that Why does the sample code define some ADC pins as the dummy even they link to the same source?

The sample code is HVPSFB.

thanks,

Young

  • Young,
The reference to "Dummy" is to provide a workaround for a known errata on this device ADC. There can be issue with the first conversion from the ADC in an idle state, so the first conversion in a sequence needs to be thrown out.

So, in the code example, this first conversion is referred to as "Dummy" conversion since it cannot be used. In our examples this results in the first channel needed sampled twice, and only the second conversion is used.

Note this is not referring to a "Dummy Channel", in the physical sense. All ADC pins on a given package/device are fully functional.

    Best,
    Matthew
