TMS320F28379D: Using the 100 pin S variant for a DesignDRIVE app

Hi team,

We had a good question come in from a customer that had planned to use the 100 pin F28379S, and bought the C2000 DesignDRIVE Development Kit (which contains the D variant) hoping to still target the S variant in their application. I don’t want to say its not possible, can one of you please provide some thoughts about this?

Here is their wording:

I just realized 176 pin version of the microcontroller is being used in the ControlSuit and the tools that come with the DesignDRIVE kit. We are planning to use the 100pin part in our design.

-Do you have a tool suite that supports 100 pin part?

-Otherwise, how difficult will it be to port IDDK_PM_Servo_F2837x-v2 project?

-What kind of support will I get from TI to do that?

I see only one place that has "void main(void)" function. Therefore, I am assuming the mentioned project uses only one core. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

The controlSUITE example uses CPU1 only. It should easily work on other variants, no special support needed!!.

But, it looks like it uses the 176 pin version though. I would need to remap those pins to 100 pin version, right?

Thanks for confirming my concern. I wish TI can provide some kind of mapping file to support 100 pin as well. This is what I was hoping. Anyway, this thread can be closed. However, I don't see an option to click resolved.
