TMS320F28069M: F28069 Control Stick Schematic REV 1

Hi Everyone

At Controlsuite I found the schematic of the controlstick F28069 but, in some part of the schematic, the 5VDC power rail is cutted by open R15, Why did Texas Instruments do this? In fact I have a F28069 Control stick and it has the pads of R15 but it is not populated, Was that made in order to not to affect the USB connector because of load? or Is it because it must be treat as an interface, not as a power supplier?

PD, I know the F28069 Control Stick is out of the market but I wanna know the information about the R15,

    The answer is very simple. This avoids having the user accidently applying 5 V as an input to the device and damaging it. For example, if 5 V is applied to the ADC input, it will damage that channel. However, we do provide the capability to have 5 V (when R15 is connected) in case the user needs it to power other circuits external to the controlSTICK. I have done this when I needed to power external TTL devices while using the controlSTICK to control a system.

    I was thinking of that too, I will use that and I will add a 0 ohm Jumper Resistor 0805 SMD to achieve 5VDC while connecting the controlstick to power an LCD Display.
