Fuses issue with TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

I have had the High Voltage Motor Control and PFC Developer's Kit (TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT) fuses burn (250v 4~6.3 Amp) when AC power (110v) is plugged in to the kit. This happened after a failed real-time debugging session of HVPM_Sensorless_2833x_v15 (10/26/10) code with PMSM motor and F28335 control card on CCStudio 4.1 in FLASH mode. PFC was bypassed during the run. Is this common? Is there a work around for debugging?

  • The kit provides an option of bypassing the CA power entry and using a DC power supply directly at the inverter input. This is one option you should try. If this works then the AC rectifier on the board has gone bad. You may have to replace this.

If it still drwas to much current with the DC power supply (use a current limiting one), then a fault has occured in the motor control stage and the IPM would have to be replaced.

I would suggest using the latest v1.5 for the kit software as we included some software trips to enable safe debug etc..

  • It is ALWAYS a good idea in power electronics to do development with a DC power supply for your bus initially.
