TMS320F28379D: choosing a microcontroller for solar based applications

Hi,

What would be ideal choice of microcontroller for designing  a hybrid inverter(grid-tie+battery) with IoT. I came across F28335 and F28379D .both based on multicore architecture , what parameters should be taken into considerations for choosing the right one

    For the hybrid inverter what kind of architecture are you considering.

    Sola Panel - > (MPPT Stage) -> Battery <->(Grid Tied Inverter with or without boost ? )

    What is the battery voltage you are considering in the application ?

    Are you planing on isolating the battery from the grid ?

    What is the power level you are desigining for ?

    Is it 3 phase or single phase ?

    What type of topologies are you considering for the design ?

    All these answers determine which is the right choice for this application.

    I will recommend the F283777/9D/S, or the F28004x family, as they are the newest controller from our offering and have some of the better integration in terms of analog, plus also better CPU core performance with TMU and accelerator such as CLA.

    Right now we've started with Single phase grid-tie inverter.
    Our circuit comprises of-
    Solar Panel - > (MPPT Stage with boost) -->(Grid Tied Inverter )
    The power level we are designing for 3-5kW.
    we have started with a simple full bridge topology.

    Both F28004x and F28377x will be able to do so. Unless i know more details F28004x will be my first choice.

    Thanks for the top level specs that you are planning to start.
    Could you please also share, what is your existing architecture- MCU/subsystems, wattage and topology and limitations if any.

    This will help us to make a better assessment of the MCU/system. As you know F28379D/S and F28004x are very compelling architectures that can fit in well in these applications and adaptable to your future designs.
