TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT: PWM signals inquiry

Part Number: TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE

The control card is Piccolo F28035.

Regarding the external PWM signals that are used for the 3phase AC motor output. What PWM frequencies and peaks are expected? Also, what is the expected duty cycle range? is it just 0 % to 100 %?

Finally, is there a ground reference for the 3phase AC output? I am trying to measure the output using an OScope.

Thamks

  • Generally, the PWM frequency depends on the power module, control bandwidth, and algorithm. For hv-kit, the maximum PWM frequency is 20kHz which is limited to the power module on the board. The PWM duty can be 0%~100% according to the control algorithm.
Please note that the ground planes of both the power and signal domains are the same, so proper isolation requirements must be met before connecting any test equipment with the board. You should use an isolation power supply for oscilloscope and hv-kit and use the onboard isolation emulator.

Please read the hardware guide of hv-kit first before you connect the high voltage power support to the board.

  • Hi there,

I went through the documentations and I have some doubts. Two terms in Particular 1) Signal Name and 2)PWM Channel. Please refer to image as it convey what I am trying to say. In the block diagram I don't see PWM-1L. I only see 1L in block diagram. Does that mean, 1L in block diagram referring to  PWM-1L? Could someone clarify me on that regard.

    Thanks

  • For HV-Kit, the PWM pins map should be EPWM1A->U-H/PWM1-H, EPWM1B->U-L/PWM1-L, EPWM2A->V-H/PWM2-H, EPWM2B->V-L/PWM2-L, EPWM3A->W-H/PWM3-H, EPWM3B->W-L/PWM3-L. More detailed information will be found in the schematic, the guide just showed a brief technical implementation context, not really final h/w schematic.
  • Can you provide me the whole schematics of How HV-kit is connected to F28035 control kit. As i want to connect Hall effect sensor to GPIO24, GPIO25, GPIO26
  • You could find the schematic in below folder if you installed controlSUITE by default.
