TMS320F28069M: Motorware ported to C2000Ware ?

Part Number: TMS320F28069M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MOTORWARE, C2000WARE, DESIGNDRIVE

Hi,

Happened to read a thread that Motorware 18 is the last release and that Motorware would be based on C2000Ware instead. Is it available yet a Motorware port to C2000Ware ? Have been putting an effort to  port some examples to C2000Ware and hence my question here. If there has been an effort in that direction, it would make life a lot easier.

Thanks,

Manu

  • We do not plan to update MotorWare further, so if you are using MotorWare and the F2806x, 05x, 02x devices you must continue as-is.

We are releasing C2000Ware MotorControl SDK in March that will begin support for InstaSPIN-FOC and DesignDRIVE solutions.  This will only be for the new Piccolo F28004x (InstaSPIN & DesignDRIVE) and Delfino F2837x/Piccolo 07x (DesignDRIVE) and new devices going forward.

  • Ah, that wasn't what I was expecting, but never mind.

That said, I looked up the F28004x, it appears to be slightly cheaper, but a slightly faster version compared to the 28069M. Am I correct ? Any downsides, comparing to the F28069M ? A quick comparison has not revealed the details.

Also, The F28004x, will be supported only by DesignDrive ? And not motorware ?

    Thanks,
    Manu
  • F28004 will be supported by MotorControl SDK with InstaSPIN-FOC and DesignDRIVE solutions.
  • and yes, you are correct that the F28004x is effectively an upgraded version of F2806x.
Features are discussed at www.ti.com/f28004x and you can read some of the technical overviews or comparison documents.

the InstaSPIN-FOC capability is primarily the same, though the library is now completely in floating point so much of the scaling requirements are removed. InstaSPIN-MOTION is not supported on F28004x.
