Question regarding the C2000 Power Line Modem Developer's Kit

Hi,

I have two TMDSPLCKIT-V2 kits here and I am trying to get them working but I am having some problems.
Here are the details:
Test Setup:
The two PLM modems are connected to the same power tap (not a surge-suppressor). Power for the modems is sourced from the internal 'line power'. I am using the same firmware that came with the kit (default - PRIME). The two modems are connected to the USB port of two different computers. The GUI software version that I am using is v1.13.116.1.
Test Sequence:
As instructed in the quick start guide, I set up the serial communication between PCs and the modems (Steps 1 through to Step 7 Quick Start Guide). The modems were set in 'point to point' mode. I then chose to use the file transfer option. The file I used was a plain text file. 7776.Document - Copy.txt. The 'Stream' option was enabled and 'No ACKs' was disabled (Look at the screen shots). I tried different packet sizes with the same file. The modulation used was DBPSK.
Now, the problem that I am having is :
-> The data rate (bps) is too low, especially since these modems are quoted to work up to 128 Kbits/s and my setup here is very simple with very little wiring length (approx 3 ft: modem - power tap - modem) between the modems.
-> At the end of the file transfer process, the received file is corrupted with missing characters. The GUI statistics show missing packets. The problem is worse when the packet size is 256. In this case, the receiving modem stop responding and loses connectivity with the PC as well. Due to this the statistics freeze up.
Is there anything wrong with my setup / procedure or is this what I can expect from the PLC Development Kit?
Also, is it possible to get higher data rates by programming the PLM modems with a different firmware (G3 / FlexPLC)?
Please let me know.
Thanks.
