TMS320F280049: Maximum current consumption

Hi,

I am using the internal DCDC for the VDD. I'd like to size the external regulator to power the rest, ie. VDDA and VDDIO.

Since I haven't defined all the peripherals and I/O pins for my design yet, please advise what the maximum current requirement I should prepare for. Thank you.

Hi Kien,

Please go through section 5.5 of Data sheet related to "Power Consumption Summary" that has maximum current requirement. Let me know if you still have any questions.

Hi Nirav,
Thanks for your answer. However, the section only provides typical values under certain test condition. I want to know the worst case to size the external LDO.

Hi Kien,

Are you referring to Table 5.4 "Typical IDD Current Reduction per Disabled Peripheral (at 100-MHz SYSCLK)"?

This table only lists the typical value, since it depends on actual Application used case to determine actual/max current consumption.

Thanks. I see.
So in general, can I use 150mA as the maximum number for all the cases (excluding the currents for I/O drive)?
I saw 0.5A LDO on the docking station and 1A on the LaunchPad. The LP can power BoosterPacks so it has higher current LDO, I guess.
