TMS320F28379D: Running simultaneous sampling (DFT/FFT) via TMS320F28379D

Part Number: TMS320F28379D

Hi,

With reference to TMS320F28379D datasheet section 5.10.1 for the on-chip ADC, it is capable of performing 16-bit parallel sampling (DFT/FFT) correct? Are there any key considerations or perquisite condition to operate in such way?

On the ADC voltage reference, since we're having 4 ADCs running simultaneous does it means we will need to source for an external voltage reference?

Also with regards to the analog input, since it's not possible for TMS320F28379D to take in negative voltage hence pre-signal conditioning will be required. May i know what's the minimal Vss acceptable?

Regards,

Leo

  • Hi Leo,

This is the intended way to use the multiple ADCs: running in parallel to sample multiple signals simultaneously.

For this case, especially in 16-bit mode, you do need to ensure the ADCs operate synchronously. See the TRM section 'Ensuring Synchronous Operation'.

You can refer to the electrical tables in the datasheet, but Vss and Vssa and VREFLO should all be connected to 0V = board ground. In the electrical section we will specify a min/max voltage before permanent damage occurs. For a negative input I believe this is -0.3V.
