TMS320F280049: Recommended BOR threshold level for an external SVS

Hi Experts,

I would like to know the appropriate BOR threshold level for an external SVS.

According to the datasheet www.ti.com/lit/sprs945, the VBOR-VDDIO is 2.81V(min) and 3.0V(max).

I believe that BOR occurs during the voltage range.

Furthermore, there is a VBOR-GB 0.1V(typ).

So, the recommended BOR threshold is 3.0V + 0.1V = 3.1V?

I would like to utilize the external SVS instead of the internal BOR function in F280049.

Hi Hitoshi,

Your understanding is correct, BOR range is from 2.8V - 3.1V, if the supply goes down to a value in this range brown out event can occur.

You cannot disable internal BOR circuit, it can trip in this range, so you need to take care of this while designing your external supply regulator.

Hi Hitoshi,

One small correction. The internal BOR can be disabled with ANALOG_SUBSYS_REGS.VMONCTL.BORLVMONDIS = 1.
