TMDSHVMTRINSPIN: 69M or 27F?

Part Number: TMDSHVMTRINSPIN
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28027F, TIDM-1003

Dear TI Experts:

I hope to apply TMDSHVMTRINSPIN to an electric fan design.

The target application is VAC=230 and 400W for a 3 phase PMSM, with a PWM input controlling the rotating speed (500~5650 rpm).

I think  F28027F is enough for the above target application, right?  No need to use F28069M, right?

^_^

Best Wishes,

Tang Han

  • Right. TMS320F28027F is enough for sensorless-FOC of a fan motor drive control if you just only need an additional GPIO as pulse signal input, even need a UART.

  • Dear Expert Luo:

I appreciate your instant and professional reply so much.  ^_^

It is really a hard problem for me to determine the Rshunt and the corresponding OPA gain.

In TMDSHVMTRINSPIN, Rshunt=0.02 Ohm and OPA gain= 8.25. For my targeted application VAC=230 and 400W, the current may be smaller.

From the following pic. extracted from TIDM-1003, it started the design from the nominal current 15A. (Sorry~ I have no idea about it~)

Anyway, for my targeted application VAC=230 and 400W, could you kindly suggest the approximate Rshunt and the corresponding OPA gain for me?

    I really need your help.

Wish you a prosperous new year!

    ^_^

  • You might have a trade-off between the shunt resistor and the gain of the current amplifier, you could set the gain to from 5 to 10 that's fine for most motor controllers, and then calculate the resistance and power consumption to select a right resistor as the application notes you mentioned. It's not a unique selection that could be done according to the parts you had on hand. You might refer to HV-Kit, just change the shunt resistor to a high resistance one based on the maximum current of your board.
  • Dear Expert Luo:
