Need to find Exact evaluation Board

Happy new year to all,

I have two questions,

1) Can anyone please let me know the exact evaluation board for the below requirement of BLDC motor drive,

 

BLDC motor driver for 12V to 60V DC - HALL Sensored based
Description :  Voltages 12V to 60V
                     Current limiting at : 30A 
Actual requirement: BLDC motor drive with,
                                 a) over voltage protection
                                 b) under voltage protection
                                 c) over current shut 
                                 d) current limiting
                                 e) motor direction change
                                 f) brake
                                 g) enable/disable
                                 h) reverse polarity protection
                                 i) lock rotor protection
                                 j) temperature protection
                                 k) supply wire short protection (optional)
                                 l) both the directions should have same current and speed
                                 m) over load protection
                                 n)  pwm output for speed info
Commutation type:  Trapezoidal commutation
Method of commutation: Sensored or sensorless any
2) I read "Trapezoidal commutation gives better torque at lower speeds but no FOC" Please correct me if I am wrong.

  • You might use the DRV8301-HC-C2-KIT to spin this motor, more detailed information could be found in as below link.

    And you might download the controlSUITE as below link, and find an example project in the folder as below, the example project is based on a High voltage kit, but you may easily migrate to the DRV8301-HC-C2-KIT. The kit with the example project just spins the BLDC with hall sensor, and focus on the motor drive algorithm. The other functions you listed are the special protection and control features based on your system that you must design and add by yourself.

    Thanks for one reply.

    Can you please suggest atleast onw EVB for 12 and 24V with 30A current and should have current limiting and current cut off protection. Others can be managed.

    Also what about my previous question which was asked in my previous post.

  • 1. As I have replied to you, you might use the DRV8301-HC-C2-KIT.
    2. Trapezoidal control and FOC should have similar torque and speed control performance in full speed range, just trapezoidal control has a little higher torque and speed ripple than FOC. Most BLDC uses trapezoidal control, and most PMSM uses sinusoidal FOC.
