TMS320F28027F: DRV8305

Part Number: TMS320F28027F
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-00643, , DRV8305, DRV832X, LAUNCHXL-F28027F, BOOSTXL-DRV8323RH

Hello,

I have some general questions about TMS320F28027F and the reference design for a drone ESC (TIDA-00643). I plan to produce high quality controllers and look for an option that is efficient and reliable, yet it can work perfectly without specific user settings.

1. Based on the TIDA-00643, it is possible to replace DRV8305 with DRV832x to increase the input voltage to 60 volts with replacing the other components required for this purpose?(I checked the pins and saw a lot of differences)

2. How will this controller work if it is used for different motors without adjusting for each?

3. Do you have a reference design for a dronе motor controller working at at least 54 volts and using FOC trapezoidal control?

Best regards

  • 1) Yes, the F2802x device is compatible with the DRV832x family of devices. You will not be able to do a drop-in replacement, as certain GPIO and other pins will need to be reassigned, but the TIDA-00643 can be used as a base reference for this redesign

    2) InstaSPIN-FOC offers motor identification, you will need to rerun this feature on each new motor to identify the resistance, inductance, flux, etc of the new motor you wish to spin

    3) No, at this time the only reference we offer for InstaSPIN FOC is TIDA-00643. Please be aware that InstaSPIN FOC is sinusoidal control, not trapezoidal control

  • Thanks for the comprehensive answer.

I have a very short question:

Is the LAUNCHXL-F28027F compatible with BOOSTXL-DRV8323RH?

    Thank you in advance.

    P.S.

I think I found the answer to my question.
After digging into your forum I found a lot of info about the two being compatible.
The confusion came from the fact that after a check on the compatibility of your site, the BOOSTXL-DRV8323RH was not embedded as compatible with the LAUNCHXL-F28027F.
Perhaps it is good to fix this lack.

    Have a nice day.
