TMS320F280049: Fast communication between F280049 and FPGA

Hi,

We have a request, that's to build the fast communication between F280049 and FPGA.

In details, F280049's ADC results are transmit to FPGA, in a shortest time.

Our idea is like, PWM triggers ADC sampling, ADC EOC triggers DMA to take the results to FSI, and FSI sends them to FPGA. During the progress, all are in automatic.

Is that OK?

Hi Jordan,

From an ADC perspective sampling the ADC periodically and then triggering a DMA transfer based on the completion of the ADC channel(s) should be fine.

I've tagged the FSI expert to comment on the FSI specifically; I'm not sure if FSI or high-speed SPI would be a better choice (it may depend on how many words you want to send). Even faster would be using a device with an EMIF interface (e.g. F28075).

What you mentioned above is exactly how I would handle this. FSI, dual-data-line, at 50MHz would be the fastest way to do this. You will need to implement the headers, and data integrity sections of each FSI package in the FPGA.
