TMS320F28035: PLC Lite Question

Part Number: TMS320F28035
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE031

1) Is the "full" API of the PLC-Lite Modem software in the "PLC Lite Host Message Protocol Specification"?

2) Is it possible to add application code to the DSP next to the PLC-Lite driver or do I need to add another micro-controller that talks via de Host protocol to the PLC-Lite software?

3) Is there any other information the host protocol can get from the modem like collisions?

4) Can I use broadcasting with PLC-Lite

Beste regards,

R

  • Hi Roland,

Just wanted to let you know that the best person to answer your questions is unavailable today. You can expect a reply tomorrow.

    Thanks,
    Mark
  • Thanks for the message. Is he also the one that clears the access to the PLC Lite files/software/etc? I tried a few times to request it...
  • Part Number: TI-PLC-PLCLITE

Is there an updated specification of the PLC-Lite software/documents to be able to assess current state and applicability for a new design?

  • Hi Roland,

As I research this inquiry, can you provide a bit more background on your application and what version of the software/specification you currently have?
  • Dear Neil,

I'm trying for (weeks) some time getting hold of the PLC-Lite to see what it is. About the application I prefer to discuss this not on the forum.
  • Roland,

I merged the thread in the precision amplifier forum with this one to keep track of things in one place.  I am also the administrator for FW access and can see your request on that end as well.  Apologies for the time delay in responding as I have been out of the office over the winter holiday.

I will send more detail on the state of the PLC Lite FW as well some more recent options from TI for PLC type comms(http://www.ti.com/lit/sprac94)

    As to your questions:

    1) Is the "full" API of the PLC-Lite Modem software in the "PLC Lite Host Message Protocol Specification"?

A1) Yes, the document included with the PLC Lite FW download contains all available API calls

    2) Is it possible to add application code to the DSP next to the PLC-Lite driver or do I need to add another micro-controller that talks via de Host protocol to the PLC-Lite software?

A2)No, the PLC Lite FW is designed to run on the F28035 as the main/only component.  Using this FW you could view the F28035 + AFE031 as a PLC modem only, even though there are features/subsytems that exist on both of these devices that may be unused by the PLC Lite protocol

    3) Is there any other information the host protocol can get from the modem like collisions?

A3)Currently the FW is bounded by what has been implemented as detailed in the Host spec you have mentioned.

    4) Can I use broadcasting with PLC-Lite

A4)Yes, PLC Lite supports broadcast mode.

    Best,

    Matthew

  • Roland,
I'm going to close the thread based on answering the questions and providing access to the FW requested. If there are futher questions feel free to reply or if some time passes start a new thread. It will get routed to me if on the C2000 E2E.
