Compiler/TMS320F28377S: porting CubeSst Protocol Library (libcsp) to the CCS project

Hi,

I want to port libcsp (source code) from the location https://github.com/libcsp/libcsp I would like to know whether it is feasible to port it in a C2000 project.

Anything I need to keep in mind while porting for e.g. dependency issues?

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with this code, nor do I know of its being ported to the C2000 before, so I can't really comment on its feasibility. You'll need to study it and get a feel for it yourself.

I will say that one thing that often comes up when porting software to the C2000 is the fact that the smallest data type on the C2000 is 16 bits. char is 16 bits and our compiler's stdint.h doesn't contain a uint8_t, so watch out for that in the code. This doesn't mean that the code can't be ported if it uses 8-bit types, but you'll need to look out for it and use tricks like the __byte() intrinsic and 8-bit bit fields in structures to imitate 8-bit bytes.

I am getting a lot of errors related to below:
#1167 invalid attribute for "struct <unnamed>"
where the structure is:
struct __attribute__((__packed__)) {
char interface[CSP_CMP_ROUTE_IFACE_LEN];
uint32_t tx;
uint32_t rx;
uint32_t tx_error;
uint32_t rx_error;
uint32_t drop;
uint32_t autherr;
uint32_t frame;
uint32_t txbytes;
uint32_t rxbytes;
uint32_t irq;
} if_stats;

I know it is related to packing. How to resolve this in c28x?
How should i include the GCC extensions in my CCS project settings?

The C2000 compiler doesn't support __packed__ since 32-bit accesses always need to be aligned to a 32-bit boundary on the C2000. You'll need to try to work around the padding.
