TMS320F28377D: interface with USB3.0 U disk

Part Number: TMS320F28377D

Dear,

Can I interface USB3.0 U disk with TMS320F28377D? Why? If not, can I have any method to achieve this?

    Best reguard!

  • HI,

I am not sure what you mean by U disk.

F2837x is a USB 2.0 device. But USB 2.0 is compatible with USB 3.0. So it should work. I believe that during the enumeration process the host will identify the device as USB 1.0, 2.0. or 3.0 and should handle the enumeration and communication according to what the device is capable of.

  • Hi,

Thank you for your reply very much. I am sorry that I cannot describe my question clearly.

I know that F2837x can be configured to act as either a dedicated host or device, which is described in F2837x manual. When F2837x acts as a device  a PC or Laptop computer  will act as a host, in this case we know it is easy to identified by USB2.0 or 3.0 computer. But, when F2837x acts as a host I use a U disk as a device operated by  F2837x. Now USB3.0 U disk is popular, so my question is  if F2837x can interface with USB3.0 U disk? Why?  If not, can I have other method to deal with this trouble?

       Best Regards!

       Leo

  • F2837x does not support USB 3.0. However, your U disk should be backwards compatible with USB 2.0. In this case the enumeration process should ensure that USB 2.0 is being used.

My answer is, "Yes. It should work as long as the U disk is able to enumerate as a 2.0." You can do some more research on the internet for this and also some research specifically on the U disk.

    Hope this helps,
