TMS320F28335: Is it OK for TMS320F28335PTPQ to replace TMS320F28335PGFA?

Part Number: TMS320F28335

Dears,

I want to adopt TMS320F28335PTPQ to replace TMS320F28335PGFA because of high temperature.

but I am not going to relayout my PCB.

Is it right for that? HLQFP is PIN2PN with LQFP?

  • Martin,

    No.
Please see my response on a very similar thread: e2e.ti.com/.../2808203

The short answer is that the PTP can achieve operation at the higher temperatures because of the thermal properties afforded by the PowerPad. If you do not plan to re-layout the PCB, you will not gain the heat sink from MCU to PCB, and your device will potentially fail at high temperatures.

You must connect the PowerPad to the GND plane of your PCB.

    Mark
