Please clarify Input GPIO qualification mode setting for ECAP module on this processor.

Technical reference manual states that input GPIO should be set to asynchronous mode qualification.

Device data sheet mentions timing characteristics in asynchronous, synchronous and input qualified mode.

Can ECAP module capture data on a GPIO configured in 6-sample qualified mode?

Yes. Used it yesterday to solve issue capturing falling edges of signal with slow rising edges. Sometimes it was catching rising edges instead of falling. 6-cycles qualification solved issue very well.

Yes, it depends on application. Most cases you want to capture raw edges but if you would like to use the qual mode, you can do that.

It seems I have posted the wrong information here. The partnumber is TMS320F280049 and not the TMS320F28274S.
Is the answer still the same?

Yes I dont believe anything has changed with regards to this, on F280049.
