CCS/TMS320F28377S: XDS510USB will not be supported in CCS 64bit

Hi,

I would like to know the reason of the discontinued support of XDS510USB debugger interface in the 64bit Code Composer Studio.

I have 2 of these devices (for about 2K/3K Euro value) and I discover that from the new release of the CCS I can put them into the trash can.

Is this a programmed obsolescence case or there are some technical reasons behind this decision?

Is possible to have more details?

    Discontinuing a product is not an easy decision. I assume you are talking about the Spectrum Digital 510 USB here or are you referring to a different product?

    In the case of the Spectrum Digital XDS510 this is primarily a decision of the vendor. In making such a decision the company needs to look at the impact to existing customers and sales, similar to the choice that was made not to support these products on Linux or Mac when CCS became a 64bit application on those platforms. Note that Spectrum Digital still supports the use of these products with CCSv8 and earlier.

    The XDS510 products are quite old and have long since been replaced by newer products. We stopped carrying the XDS510 USB in the TI channel many years ago.

    To be fair there would be software work required from TI in order to enable Spectrum Digital to support the XDS510 USB with CCSv9. If the vendor desires to move forward this is something we can evaluate supporting.
