TMS320F28379D: /dev/tty.usbserial not appearing as serial port on Mac OS X 10.10

Part Number: TMS320F28379D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LAUNCHXL-F28379D

I am trying to implement the sci_ex3_echoback example using a virtual serial port, however the launchpad (LAUNCHXL-F28379D) does not show up as a serial port. When I plug in a regular out-of-the-box FTDI debug board into my machine's usb port, it DOES appear as /dev/tty.usbserial-00000000.

Both the launchpad and the FTDI debug board drivers appear to be the same version when I open Device Manager on a PC. Have not had any luck using putty to open a COM port on the PC (probably related to the reason why it does not show up as a device on Mac, but I can't confirm that).

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt
