Hello,

I am looking at the schematics of TMDXIDDK379D board, in AC power filter module, which is M1, there is a common mode choke. What is the purpose of using this choke? Is it a transformer to increase the voltage level of the input DC? Also as I understanf, L1 and C2 are for filtering purposes, but I don't see any smoothing capacitor in the diagram. Could you please help me with these questions?

It is meant for emi filtering purposes, not to boost the input voltage. Basically, that bunch is for filtering the locally generated noise from getting into ac mains. DC filter cap is shown separately.

Hello,
I have another question about this part. So if the input is 110VAC, 60Hz, then at the output of the smoothing capacitors we will get 110V DC. right? I saw that with this kit we can purchase a PMSM motor with name "HVPMSMMTR", and the voltage rating of this motor is 200VDC. So how can we run this motor with 110VDC? Am I missing something in the schematic that boost the DC voltage?

With a 110V ac (rms) input, the dc voltage will be around 150V as it will be close to the input peak. Of course, the dc bus voltage will be lower than the motor spec in the US mains. This can limit the max running speed of the motor. Where the ac mains is about 220V(rms), the dc bus will get to 300V. The IDDK board is capable of working at this voltage also. There is no boost stage here, the intent is to study/ evaluate closed loop motor control using C2x devices on this platform.
