LAUNCHXL-F28069M: printf, memory section of 28069 and 280049c ram flash

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-F28069M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MOTORWARE

Hello Ti,

I have a few questions about printf (fprintf) on the F28069M with Motorware. I tried to write some data to the pc. It worked but as I used fprintf I got these two warnings:

To get rid of the first warning I set the heap and stack size to 0x400.

For the second waring I read somewhere that I should add .cio in the F28069F_ram_Ink file. I added this “.cio : > RAML0_L8, PAGE = 0”.
Does this affect some of the Motorware programs(algorithms) when I add “.cio” in the file?

Also, can I change the memory section of the stack from “RAMM1” to “RAML0_L8” without affecting something else?
I wanted to print floats, but this is only possibly when I choose RAML0_L8 and increase the stack size. Currently I am converting floats to strings.

Is it better if I change nothing at the memory in the proj_labs or should I use SCI or something to send data to the pc?

I also have a question about the F280049c Launchpad. I tried the "launchxl_ex1_f280049c_demo"(RAM) and in the "28004x_generic_ram_Ink.cmd" it reads:

/* Flash sectors: you can use FLASH for program memory when the RAM is filled up*/
/*You can arrange the .text, .cinit, .const, .pinit, .switch and .econst to FLASH when RAM is filled up.*/

Then I tried that:

.text           : >> FLASH_BANK1_SEC_4_5_6_7,   PAGE = 0

Instead of this:

.text           : >>RAMM0 | RAMLS0_LS3 | RAMLS4,   PAGE = 0

Is this supposed to work? Because the program loads but nothing happens after that. I wanted to use both flash and ram. Are there some settings I have to change?

Is there any further reading where I can learn something about memory management and how to use it/work with it? (I’m using the F28069M und F280049C Launchpad)

thanks
