RTOS/TMS320F28379D: Tasks stack

Hi,

From which memory section is Tasks stack taken? I mean Tasks created programmatically in execution time.

I haven't seen, in cfg file, any parameter which can limit that because "Program.stack" is only for ISRs and Swis. Is there any parameter to do that?

Hello Adria,

Task stacks can be created using 2 methods.

1. Task_construct() - You can provide a statically allocated task stack to the Task_Params via the Task_Params.stack and Task_Params.stackSize parameters.

2. Task_create() - The task stack will be allocated dynamically from the kernel's heap memory. The size the of task stack is specified using the Task_Params.stackSize parameter.

Please note that you can supply the stack on the Task_create also via the parameters. Similarly, if you don't supply the stack on the Task_construct, it will be allocated from the kernel's heap.

If you don't want to have the allocation come from the kernel's heap (in the case where you don't provide the stack), you can set the Task_Params.stackHeap. Then the allocation will occur from that heap. Note: the default for stackHeap is NULL which means use the kernel's heap.

For static creation of tasks in the .cfg file, you can explicitly place the stack into a section via the Task_Params.stackSection field.

Both the default heap and section can be changed via Task module settings.
