CCS/TMS320F28035: Not able to build CLA project with copy from flash to RAM on boot hack

Part Number: TMS320F28035
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, C2000WARE

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi everyone!

I am master student and have got to implement  my master thesis in hardware using "mass" production sample of Russian  frequency converter control board based on TMS320F28035. Main issue with it is lack of proper debug probe on board. All it has got is FTDI USB->UART converter, which is in fact not supported by TI Code Composer Suite or UniFlash.  I've managed to deal with it by adapting spraau8a.zip example, which provides hack to use SCI boot mode to load program into flash ROM and copy it to RAM when power is on. My next step was to achieve 3-phase sine PWM output, which failed (if i understand correctly due to lack of main CPU computing power to calculate PWM reference values fast enough). Now I'm trying to use CLA co-processor module and am not able to build C2000ware example with flash_to_ram hack. It fails due to unresolved symbols and  memory allocating errors on build stage. Can someone help me with building such uncommon example, please?

Info about software:

1) OS -- Linux Mint 19.1 amd64

2) Code Composer Studio: Version: 8.3.0.00009

3) C2000ware -- latest version from Resource Manager

Thanks in advance!

Sincerely yours, Scherbakoff Dima, Master Student of Electrical Drives Department, Ural Federal Univercity.

  • Hi,

Can you please first build and run our CLA examples in C2000Ware? This will demonstrate to you how to build a flash application which utilizes the CLA. It is loaded to flash and then the CLA program and data are copied to RAM. Then the RAM is configured for CLA execution.

You can find examples in the below folders:
    C:\ti\c2000\C2000Ware_1_00_06_00\device_support\f2803x\examples\cla
    C:\ti\c2000\C2000Ware_1_00_06_00\device_support\f2803x\examples\c28

The cla_adc_fir_flash should be particularly helpful.

If you have any more questions, please post here.

    Regards,
    sal
