Hi

Double check about the erase time. 

Why it need up to 12 second for the 1st 100 cycle? When it only need typical 2 second for 4K sector.

    Hi Daniel,

    This footnote is meaning that higher MAX erase times could be witnessed for devices that have been programmed and erased more than 100 times. Typically it will take around 2s to erase a flash sector, but it's possible to witness up to 12s sector erase times within the first 100 program/erase cycles.

    1. Why the range of flash erase time is so wide? From typical 2s to 12s? What's factor determine this? Chip, environment or something others?
    2. Which stage is more easily to see 12 sec? The first 100 program and erase cycle or after more than 100 times program and erase.

    Flash erase time will generally increase with the number of previous erase cycles.

    Hi Kevin,

    Do you have the distribution chart of erasing time?

    1. We select 2 new device to do erasing test. It needs 5-6 sec to erase 6 sector. But according datasheet, typical time is 2 sec to erase one sector. It means needs 12 sec to erase 6 sector.

    2. After do 10,000 times erase, the time is extended additional 700 ms, far below 12 seconds.

    Because customer make mistake in code that they don't reserve enough time for Flash erase time when erase times goes up, but product have been shipped. We need distribution chart to help risk evaluation. Thanks.

    Answers to your questions/concerns below:

    1. Erase time varies from part to part. It is typical for a single sector erase to take up to 2s. However, it's possible to see devices with erase times below this.

    2. This is possible too and will vary part to part.

    Can you share what time the customer reserved for flash erase (how long per sector)? With the max time being 12s per sector (for the first 100 program/erase cycles) ideally they should allocate that amount of time, or more.
