TMS320F280049: VCU CRC Check of Static Memory Contents at Safety Manual

Part Number: TMS320F280049

Hello Support team.

Safety Manual mentioned the below. I think that this is

My understanding of this sentences is that the below.

This sentence says ABC has a CRC module and users can be used it. Then this sentence does not say "user have to use it for achieving functional safety".

I would like to know if my understanding is correct.

6.2.8 VCU CRC Check of Static Memory Contents

The TMS320F28004x MCU device family includes co-processor implementing cyclic redundancy check (CRC) using standard polynomial.

The CRC module can be used to test the integrity of SRAM/Flash/OTP/external memory contents by calculating a CRC for all memory contents and comparing this value to a previously generated "golden" CRC.

The comparison of results, indication of fault, and fault response are the responsibility of the software managing the test.

The cyclical check applied by the CRC logic provides an inherent level of self-checking (auto-coverage), which can be considered for application in latent fault diagnostics.

  • Hi Kohro-san,

The safety manual lists safety mechanisms TI has identified that could provide a diagnostic coverage to the corresponding IP. It is up to the system integrator to decide which safety mechanism to implement in their system based on their safety goal. The effect of enable and disable of certain safety mechanism to FIT rate and diagnostic coverage can be calculated using our tunable FMEDA. Customer can also implement their own safety mechanism and claim diagnostic coverage.
