CCS/TMDSEMU110-U: XDS110 Erorr -266

Part Number: TMDSEMU110-U

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

After using the XDS110 for a long time, I suddenly get:

-----[An error has occurred and this utility has aborted]--------------------
This error is generated by TI's USCIF driver or utilities.
The value is '-266' (0xfffffef6).
The title is 'SC_ERR_XDS110_CPLD_UPDATE'.
The explanation is:
An internal error occurred. The CPLD image update failed. Unplug and
re-plug the XDS110, and try again.
[End]
Nothing helps. I reconnected, booted the PC, I updated bootloader and firmware.
It happened after having used XDS100v3 in CCS and then changing to XDS110 without telling CCS. When connecting to my target failed, I recognized my mistake and changed to XDS110 and got the above listed error.
  • Hi,

I haven't seen this error before, but it seems that something is not working appropriately between the main device of your Debug Probe (the TM4C129) and its CPLD.

I would first try to re-flash its firmware by following the procedure shown at the section "Updating the XDS110 Firmware" of the XDS110 page below:
    dev.ti.com/.../

The firmware carries the CPLD code inside, thus probably succeeding in overcoming this particular error.

I wouldn't expect that a simple misconfiguration would cause a corruption in the XDS110, given they use completely different device drivers.

    Hope this helps,
    Rafael
  • Thanks for the suggestions. I tried it all without success. Then I bought a new XDS110. It works without problems.
