TMS320F28033: RC oscilator TMS320F28033PAGQ ?

Part Number: TMS320F28033

Hello,

  1. in the datasheet it says that the value of our oscillator is exactly 10MHz at 30C
    1. Is this 100% guaranteed for every MCU?
      1. If yes how do guarantee it?
      2. If no what is the deviation?
        Piotr Demidowicz

  • The datasheet only quotes a typical (TYP) value of 10 MHz (in Table 5-7), not an exact value. I presume you are basing your statement based on Fig 5-9 in page 36 of SPRS584M, which only shows the MIN/MAX values and the variation across temperature.
  •  HI Hareesh,

Yes, i am reffering to this table.

In this i would need the minimum and maximum value of the internal osc at 30C.

    Can you provide it?

    Piotr

  • Piotr,

No, we do not provide official guidance on the Min/Max accuracy at 30C. The spec would also have limited utility given the temperature and voltage drift characteristics of the oscillator. In other words, the device will most likely not be operating at exactly 30C and exactly 1.8V VDD. The plot in Figure 5-9 shows how much the frequency can shift with temperature.

The internal oscillator is meant to be a low-cost reference clock with coarse accuracy -- enough to operate the device and communicate over protocols with loose clock requirements or asynchronous signaling. If the application has ppm requirements, it would be advisable to use an external clock source with better accuracy and stability.
