TMS320F280049: REVID register vs ROM code version register

Part Number: TMS320F280049

Hello Support team.

I want to confirm the Silicon revision from register.

Then I think that it is REVID register (0x0005 D00C).

But I found other register which is BOOT ROM Version register at 0x003F FF7A.

I heard from same revision of F280049 lineup has same ROM code.

Then system can check RevID when ROM code is checked by CRC for system self-checking.

And I think that REVID register can be used.

However, I am confusion about existing BOOT ROM version register.

(1) Does BOOT ROM version has same value at same revision of F280049 lineup ?

(2) if (1) is yes, is it possible to use this BOOT ROM version register for revision check ?

Of course, I believe that TI recommends to use REVID even if BOOT ROM code has same value at same revision of F280049 lineup.

(3) if (1) is no, this means that the same revision of F280049 lineup may have different ROM codes.

I believe that this case is not. Because customer cannot implement ROM code check by CRC even though Safety manual mentioned that CRC can be used memory checking.

(if CRC will be used for ROM code check , customer needs to get CRC value during system is developing as golden CRC value. But this case, customer cannot get revision dedicated CRC value.)

  • Hello

The boot ROM revision will be the same all same revisions of the silicon. For example, all boot ROM code will be the same on all silicon revB devices. Boot ROM code could be (and is different) for F280049 revA silicon devices.

Silicon revision can change without boot ROM changing. However, boot ROM revision won't change without silicon revision changing.

    Best regards
