Hello Support team.

I discuss about ROM code check as self-check with external several time.

C2000 Safety Manual mentioned CRC HWA. (Of course, customer can decide whether it will be used or not and what self-check will be implemented.)

C2000Ware has good example for ROM code check with Check-Sum method.

However, C2000 does not have HWA for executing Check-Sum.

Therefore, it take a little bit long time to do check-sum for ROM code check.

Or course, it is very good time if HW CRC will be used.

But C2000 does not have some register which has golden CRC value of ROM code.

I would like to know the reason why C2000 selected Check-Sum method even though C2000 has HWA of CRC.

Hello

This was carried forward from previous devices and I don't have reasoning regarding why it was selected over CRC options. Although the checksum is available if customer wants to use it, in no way do they need to. They can use CRC themselves and create their own golden value.

Switching to use CRC is definitely being discussed and although I can't confirm 100%, I would say it is very likely to switch to CRC for future devices.
