Compiler/TMS320F28379D: Using #define __BSD_VISIBLE to utilize M_PI macro?

Tool/software: TI C/C++ Compiler

I didn't see anything on the forums about defining __BSD_VISIBLE to expose macros like M_PI. It seems to work. Are there any issues one should be aware of?

Also, some platforms _USE_MATH_DEFINES is utilized to expose these macros.

Hi Yanming,

We are using our own development projects. I noticed in the C library's <math.h> there's a section that defines several useful macros often available in other C/C++ libraries such as M_PI. They are not part of the official standard but are quite ubiquitous. By simply #define __BSD_VISIBLE in a source file those macros become available.

I'm wondering if there are any other side effects by using #define __BSD_VISIBLE that I should be aware of?

The M_PI macro, and everything else under control of __BSD_VISIBLE, is not part of the documented interface of <math.h> . It is not intended for external use. With no notice, a future release could change M_PI, or even remove it. Please do not rely on it.
