CCS/TMS320F28379D: eQEP C2000ware example for measuring speed

Part Number: TMS320F28379D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: C2000WARE,

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hey, I do wanna try the C2000ware example "eqep_pos_speed", my only concern though is some hardware connections :

1- I need to connect the PWM output to eQEP :

eQEP1A <- ePWM1A (simulates eQEP Phase A signal)
eQEP1B <- ePWM1B (simulates eQEP Phase B signal)
eQEP1I <- GPIO4 (simulates eQEP Index Signal)

is there no risk doing this connection, don't I need some sort of level shift or anything ?

2- Do I need to plug in the GND and +5V for the eQEP or not ? and what jumpers should I connect? (I'm actually connecting JP1 , JP2 , JP3 ,JP4 and JP5 is this sufficient ?)

(I'm using TMS320F28379D)

hope someone can provide a help and thanks.
