TMS320F28062: ePWM/HRPWM module with external source clock path

Hi Experts,

We got inquiries about Piccolo’s ePWM/HRPWM modules. Our customer is using TMS320F28062 as digital power controller on the current system. For next system, customer would like to synchronize the ePWM/HRPWM outputs with external clock.

It means, customer is looking for piccolo which supports ePWM/HRPWM module with external source clock path

As far as I checked c2000 devices, it appears, there is not any piccolo which support ePWM/HRPWM with external clock. I mean, Source clock for piccolo series’ ePWM/HRPWM is just SYSCLKOUT. Is that correct?

If you have the recommended piccolo for customer , Could you share them with us, please?

It is really appreciated If you have any advice/comments on this.

I am looking into this and will get back shortly. Can you give more details on the requirement to use external clock and not the CPU clock?

Hi Vasudha,

I received customer's feedback about for question.

For High-precision measurement system, generally, there are measurement circuit and power supply circuit separately . As you know, there is switching-noise which is generated by the PWM signals on the power supply circuit. For High-precision measurement system, the influence of noise is usually reduced as possible by avoiding the noise-generation-timing,

Therefore, customer is considering that phase-synchronization between measurement circuit and the power supply circuit is required.

Hi Miyazaki,

I think the phase synchronization should be possible through external EPWMxSYNCI signal. Is this feature not suitable for the requirement mentioned in the above post?
