TMS320F280049C: VDDIO_SW capacitor needed in case not using internal DCDC

Hi everybody ,

I have big issue in space , and not using internal DCDC .

I just have on pin VDDIO_SW a 100nF : am I right ?

I see on evm schematic a 20 uF too , but as far as I understand it is not needed in my case

Hi Carlo,

You are right, as per the spec if you are not using DCDC you need 0.1uF (100nf) on VDDIO_SW.

Also, copying expert on PMM for any additional comments.

Hi Carlo,

As Nirav said, if you aren't using DCDC, treat VDDIO_SW as another VDDIO pin which means you will need to install a minimum of 0.1uF on it.

I m very limited in space , do you see any value in a bigger cap vs min 0.1uF ? like 1uF ?

Carlo,

The requirement is a minimum of 0.1uF so 1uF should also be fine. Is there a reason why you wanted to use a bigger cap?

I was just asking in case it could help and make sense , but if 0.1 is enough I m fine too
I m on very limited space and staying 0.1uF helps .
