Hi Team,

I’m trying to operate the CAN bus on my LAUNCHXL-F28379D evaluation board.

The board is based on TMS320F2837xD Delfino microcontroller.

Tried to configure the CAN as a part of my project, but got only some endless constant pattern on the bus. See attached.

Even the basic example (not based on any OS) that provided as a part of device support doesn’t work (See nothing on scope).

Hi Shlomi,

The CAN GPIOs require a CAN Transceiver. Are you connecting to send the data?

Hi Harshmeet,

There is a transceiver on the evaluation board.
My scope is not connected directly to GPIO, but to the J12 connector.

Hi,

Is there some change you are making?

I am able to run the example and i am getting the data on the message RAM.

You will be getting the CANH and CANL signals on the pins.

Shlomi,

Which example are you running? If your scope has CAN trigger, could you please use it to decode the waveform? Also , capture just a single frame (your current waveform shows multiple frames) and attach it. What you are looking at could very well be valid CAN frames.

Please take a look at the debug tips in SPRA876.

A valid frame should look something like below:

Hi Harshmeet,

After configuring the right GPIO’s in the TI’s example (can_external_transmit), it works fine and I see the sent data on my scope.

I still have one unresolved issue in my application probably about using SYS/BIOS OS.

Just after enabling the CAN interrupt (CANGlobalIntEnable()), I get 6 CAN_TX interrupts in a row. All that without initiating any message transmit. (I configured 6 tx mailboxes, so I believe it’s 1 per mailbox)

On terminal I see 6 messages been sent from our board where all the data=0.

After these 6 messages the application stuck.

If I stop the debugger, reset it, and run from the beginning, I don’t get any interrupts after executing the (CANGlobalIntEnable()), and the application works fine.

I guess if it’s about the OS, or something is wrong with my application.

I tried to configure the CAN setup after starting the OS, but it doesn’t help.

Are you familiar with such issue? If so, please advise.

I suggest you close this thread and open a new one with a relevant title. This would help us to assign it to a SYS/BIOS expert and also make future searches easy. Thank you for your understanding.
