Hi,

Currently, I'm working on an 3 phase Induction motor drive which is rated at a peak power of 30kW. And if I want to use FAST algorithm for sensorless control, I need to do a locked rotor test. But, I don't have the equipment which can do that exercise. What am I missing here if I don't have data from locked rotor test? How does it affect the performance of the drive?

The Rr and Ls can't be identified correctly if the rotor wasn't locked thoroughly, so the InstaSPIN-FOC can't work and the motor can't run. The locking rotor precess must be done for ACIM identification.

Thanks Yanming for the info. But, in case of Curtis controller for Motor identification we haven't done locked rotor test. We were able to characterize the motor & adapted it for our application. What are your thoughts about it?

As mentioned above, it's a necessary process locking rotor to identify the Rr and Ls, or you set the motor parameters from its datasheet as Chapter 4.8.1 of InstaSPIN user's guide (SPRUHJ1G).
