TMDSSOLARPEXPKIT: Higher PWM frequency

Part Number: TMDSSOLARPEXPKIT
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: C2000WARE

Is it possible to generate higher frequency PWM on this kit?

Do I need to use HREPWM then?

I want to adopt this kit to really low output Power and still synchronizing with the grid. So the current will be less than 10mA. Not sure is it possible yet :)

  • How high of the frequency are you considering and for which stage?

HRPWM is only needed after 300kHz or so,

As this design was never meant to work under these conditions I am not sure from a design perspective I can comment on the feasability. This will be part of your development and engineering evaluation.

  • Probably not that high frequency so I stick with regular ePWM. I am working on a project, that will use the inverter stage of this kit. Already making some test on this kit, but I will probably create my own standalone inverter based on this with maybe little hardware changes if needed. I am quite a newbie in this so do you have any ideas what to change to have more stability for low currents? If for example I will switch frequency to 40kHZ I also should make bigger output Inductor if I want to still have 50Hz output?

  • you should be able to identify the spot where the frequency are specified and change it to 40kHz switching. Those frequencies will not require hi-resolution PWM.

Actually the output filter will be smaller inductor, please see ou calculation sheet for ripple on inductor current here..
