Compiler/TMS320F28023: Latest FLASH API examples and documentation

Part Number: TMS320F28023
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE, C2000WARE

Tool/software: TI C/C++ Compiler

Win7 (32bit) CCS 8.2, F28023

I am wanting to use the on chip FLASH via the TI API.

I have an older version of controlSUITE (v3.4.9 - March 28, 2018) that isn't working (I guess I can reinstall as I have the original install files.)

Upon searching the TI site, this page:

http://www.ti.com/tool/CONTROLSUITE?keyMatch=controlsuite&tisearch=Search-EN-Products

tells me the controlSUITE is is old news and to use C2000WARE.

The C2000WARE page wants me to upgrade to CCS 9 and I am not ready for that yet.

The above page also tells be controlSUITE is available for download, but I cannot find that ability anywhere.

Can someone please point me to the latest FLASH API for the F28023?

I would prefer to get the API without using either controlSUITE or C2000WARE. But if needs be, I want to use the controlSuite version NOT C2000WARE.

In my opinion, using either controlSUITE, or C2000WARE is really a bad idea. No more energy would be expended to place all that support on the web in separate places so I could get just what I want and nothing more.

The web version would be easier to maintain the latest version of any and all code. Why go through all the extra effort of needlessly creating a plugin for CCS?

Thanks, Mark.

If I understand, the Code Composer plugin (i.e. resource explorer) is no longer working.  Not that the Flash API is no longer working.  I understand your frustration.  We have found the resource explorer  is useful for new users or providing information but a lot of users do bypass the plugin and just drill down into the directory itself.

The download button is in the "Order Now" table on that same page (http://www.ti.com/tool/CONTROLSUITE?keyMatch=controlsuite&tisearch=Search-EN-Products).  You can download the installer or a .zip file.

The 2802x API hasn't been changed since 2012.  The copy in C2000Ware is exactly the same as the v201a in ControlSuite.  I strongly suggest using C2000Ware as any updates to the device support will be made in this package and not ControlSuite.

If you do not want to go through the Code Composer Studio resource explorer, you don't have to. It is located in the following directory:

C:\ti\c2000\C2000Ware<version>\libraries\flash_api\f2802x.     In ControlSuite it is located here: C:\ti\controlSUITE\libs\utilities\flash_api\2802x\v201a

C2000Ware is also accessible via the cloud here but personally I suggest downloading it and navigating to the directory above.

  • OK, Lori, thanks so much for this.

I was browsing through the controlSUITE folders on my hard drive, and I think I did run across what you describe.

I think I can read through the examples and get a pretty good idea of what is needed.

    As for the links...

The link you sent me works as advertised.

The one I put (above) is very similar, but has no "Order Now" area and a greyed out Order Now button.

A third link   http://www.ti.com/tool/sprc848   mentions controlSUITE but with no further way to get it

    Thanks again, Mark.

  • Mark,

    Thank you for responding back.

I haven't been able to reproduce this to get it corrected - each controlSUITE link I tried in your message has the Order Now area.  Perhaps there was a web issue when you tried.

I will raise this with the web team.  It should really point to C2000Ware.  I understand you don't wish to use C2000Ware, but the reality is any updates to content will be made there.

    Best Regards
